What do we have to pass along?

 

This me, my Dad and Todd Palin...oops I mean my brother Bryan.  I guess he looks a little like Todd Palin.  I believe that Bryan and his wife Cassie could dress up for Halloween as the Palins.  Wow... how I digress!!  Anyway this is a picture from the COG General Assembly.   Bryan and I spent these days specifically with my Dad.  I cannot imagine how proud he was to be with his 2 sons on the floor of the general council.  I am sure I would equate that to leading along side my own children in our local church.  It was a great time.

These are 2 of the finest men I know.  I truly mean that.  One of the characteristics that Bryan and my Dad both embrace is Faithfulness.  I have seen their ability to be steady and faithful!!  I really admire them and honor their example of faithfulness to each of us in the Ogle clan!!  

The older I get I do long for us to spend more time together.  There is still so much to share and so much to learn from each other.  I still have a dream of Dad, Bryan and I getting together with Dylan, Logan, Luke, Jack, Joshua, Alex, Jordan, Zach, Andrew, Daniel and Mathew and sharing with them about being Godly men and Husbands.  

Wow, I am convinced more and more that we have such an opportunity to make an impact for eternity!!

Lord, help us to be examples of God's faithfulness to the next generation.

Will the Real Chad Olinde please stand up?

 

They say that "immitation is the greatest form of flattery."  Well Chad you win the flattery award today.  We thank God for Chad and Nicki Olinde and their infusion of energy to CCS this year.  This picture says @ least a thousand words.  Anyway...let's have some fun.

Sunday Rewind

Wow...it has been long time since we scrapped as many plans as we did yesterday and it was AWESOME.  God is so great.  I thank God for all of the folks that put so much time into planning and executing our plans for yesterday!!  I know we are so blessed that we have the opportunity to serve together.  We worked really hard on music we never got to sing and play.  

I want to give a BIG THANKS to everyone involved yesterday's service for being so flexible, willing to follow, and your great attitude while serving our church!!  Thank you!!  

One of our sayings around the worship/programming offices is, "Something isn't really great until you leave good things on the cutting room floor."  Well God left a lot of good things on the cutting room floor yesterday!   I will always trade our God-honoring plans for a Holy interruption.  

My prayer for us is that we will:

• listen to God with quiet intensity 
• plan with excellence 
• work incredibly hard in preparation

• put our trust in Him

• and ALWAYS follow as God leads!

Passing It Along

   

15 years ago Cheryl and I bought our first home.  It was a 2 story white siding house with a wrap-around porch.  It was our dream home!!  We were so young, in love and excited about our new home.  Every Saturday morning we would wake up @ a casual pace, eat breakfast on our front porch, in the shade of willow tree in our front yard.  Then we would make a run to Home Depot and then work in the yard all day long.  We truly enjoyed our times on Saturdays in the yard!!  We would ALWAYS end our day, just as the sun was going down, by turning on the sprinkler, walking out on the street , embracing and admiring a hard days work.(okay I know that sounds like we have been watching a little too much LIFETIME TV!?!?!?)  There is no telling what our neighbors thought of us.  We did not care.

Last Saturday we got up too early, did not eat breakfast on the front porch, and we do not have any shade in our front yard.   We now have three children and alot of things that have to be done on this day.  We worked hard all day replacing all of  our landscaping in our front yard.  I emptied my boots out 4 times because they were filled with pine straw.  We had a great day!!  As you can see above Cheryl found herself a partner.  Mattie has a love for the outdoors and she totally loves working alongside us.  At the end of this day.  Cheryl , Mattie, and I went to the street, stood in front of our place and enjoyed a hard days work!!  

There are so many things that we pass along to our children.  Some are very intentional and many are not.  I am so proud that my girls have a mother like Cheryl.  She is such a fine person!!  I love her so much!  I pray that Savannah and Mattie grow up to be like their mother.  As they spend time with her they are seeing an example of a Godly woman!!

I hope Mattie grows up enjoying planting and working in the yard like her mother.  Mattie wants to be like her mom. Some day Mattie will look back and truly realize how much her life was different because of a Godly mother!!

Savannah's Birthday

Savannah's birthday was this week.  One of our family traditions is to serve the birthday person b-fast in bed.  The only problem with that this time is Savannah is usually the first one up.  She is so excellent at taking care of herself.  That is one of the many things that we honor in Savannah's life!!  Well, Cheryl, Mattie and I got up @ 5:40 to put this breakfast together.  Mattie thought the fruity pebbles would be pretty decorationn!!  We got Dylan and we all went into wake Savannah up @ 6:AM singing to her.  Dylan went back to sleep until 6:30.  The rest of us sat around her and watched her eat.  

Savannah had a great birthday!!  It finished off with a surprise party @ Johnny's pizza where 15 friends showed up to surprise her!!  She was really surprised!!  Fun Time!!
